[top]History
Essafah el-Hadid appeared in the city of Ilien in 539 MR, and immediately purchased a large section of the River Ward for his Port of Call Exchange. It is unknown where he acquired the money to finance his immense trading enterprise. Some rumors range from a wealthy inheritance to a theft of a deposed regent in far-away lands.
[top]Political
Even if el-Hadid has good relationship with the Count of Ilien, the constabulary of the Free City had sometimes investigate the guild or some of its members. Just after his arrival in Ilien one of his main competitors in silk and spices import was found killed. The assassin, or the mind behind him, was never found but someone still blame him for the murder.

[top]Plots and Rumours
The Suspicious Guildlord: More than one report from sources in the Port of Call Exchange suggest that El-Hadid may be bringing large amounts of high quality weapons into the Free City of Ilien: swords, bows and arrows, pikes, and other items of war. El-Hadid has been purposely quiet regarding these dealings, trying to keep the shipments concealed. The only certain reason to stockpile weapons is for war, but the question remains whether the weapons are for the forces of Ilien or to be used against them.
The Forgotten Scion: It's an open rumor that el-Hadid is a bastard scion of the famous el-Arrasi family from Ariya. Tales tell he's a nephew of the Prince-Paladin himself and that he, in order to avoid to lost his sayim, had offered him a great fortune to go abroad very far away. This is the reason of the origins of el-Hadid's fortune.
Gold and Power From Far Lands: Optionally the DM could create a couple of guild holdings in one or two Khinasi realms, Ariya and Aftane as the most suitable. These holdings must be no higher than lvl 1 and they should represent the PCE's main center of exporting exotic stuffs.
