Monsters NPCs and Awnsheghlien Index

This article is Fan Fiction
The contents herein are entirely player made and in no way represent official Birthright lore or history.
The characters and events listed are of an independent nature and are applied for roleplaying purposes only.

When adding your own monster, NPC, etc please add a green band to the page which includes the name of the monster / npc / etc in the banner. Please also add the FanFic template if the monster does not closely follow canon - Birthright is in most campaigns a 'rare but strong' magic world (other than the Shadow World) where fantastical magical beings such as beholders and the like are likely to appear out of place and where large numbers of intelligent quasi-human races would similarly not fit in - although Aduria provides a place for beast-men if you really feel the need.

As a note monsters are species other than humans that threaten, ignore, or are prey to humans. Monsters identify a race of beings - not a specific being, if a being is the last of its race it's not a monster, it's an NPC, albeit probably a rather depressed one.

Unique beasties are generally better written up as an NPC, although an awnshegh or ehrshegh is always unique ? although they may have offspring who are monsters or if strong enough another unique awnshegh. For unique monsters and NPC's please add the PC banner instead of the fan fiction banner.

Awnsheghlien are the beings unique to Cerilia, once normal representatives of another species the corrupting blood of Azrai warped them into something far deadlier than before, often immortal, always best treated with caution the awnsheghlien are the deadliest beings that could be met by your PC?s barring, possibly, a dragon. Wherever possible please indicate the level progression of the awnsheghlien to indicate how it can be scaled to fit various campaigns.

When entering a monster please give more than simply stat blocks - add an idea of how the monster fits into the ecology, festivals or myths surrounding it, etc. The more you give a prospective DM to work with, the more likely it is that they will use your creation in game-play.
New Birthright Monsters include:

[top]Non Player Characters

NPC's for short are potential people that can be used by a DM in their campaign as part of the setting, an ally, rival or opponent to the PC?s. These include regents, lieutenants, courtiers,

[top]Shadow World Beasties

The Shadow World is home to many strange beings, strange undead, twisted fey spirits, nightmares made flesh or even concepts given form from the shifting awnmebhaighl. In the few remaining outposts of the old spirit world live fey beings not seen on Cerilia in centuries, and other beings of mystery.
