Typical Dialogue:

Duriene Peracain is the wizard who controls the sources of the Second Swamp Mage.

Once the court wizard of Gerold Moergen, Duke of Osoerde, Duriene was a skilled illusionist who used his powers to great effect when Gerold's most trusted lieutenant, Jaison Raenech, deposed the Duke in a palace coup. Duriene created an illusory image of himself to protest Jaison's actions during the coup and when Jaison attacked the illusion, Duriene staged his own death by providing a convincing death, including his body's rapid corruption into dust, then blown away by an arcane breeze. Jaison remains convinced he killed Duriene. His old rival at court, Jourdain Leonidan, suspected otherwise.

Duriene was court wizard to the Duke, but Jourdain was the Swamp Mage, an independent wizard who also worked with the Duke as necessary for Jourdain's own interests. When Jaison Raenech deposed Gerold Moergen, Duriene supported Gerold's son, William Moergen, while Jourdain supported the usurper. Rivals before, they became mortal enemies.
