A round (or combat round) is a period of time in an encounter where a character is commonly limited to a short amount of actions, e.g. attempt to attack an opponent, cast a single spell. The order of play depends on who has initiative in each round and how long their action will take to execute. As such, a round may be made up of individual segments which are solely used to determine the order of play.

The length of a round differs between different versions of Dungeons and Dragons.

Birthright also has domain rounds which are used for domain actions.
