The Dispossessed are the disembodied spirits of those whose body has been possessed. They are normally found in the Shadow World as they wait to return to a body, preferably their own. Their sadness can be felt by those who witness them, sometimes overcoming the observer. Physically they resemble their original body but are incorporeal with only a limited ability to directly touch or use objects. However, observers with low seeming perception may think they are just ordinary people. They are not regarded as undead, so cannot be turned or affected by items with specific results for undead, like holy water. The Dispossessed are known to group together in small bands. They may be willing to talk and help PCs.

[top]General Features

Physical presence: The dispossessed can use psychic energy to hold small- to medium-sized objects. They move and walk as they did in life, though at a slower pace.

Depression: Upon seeing one of the Dispossessed, observers may start to feel depressed. If affected, their movement and ability to complete any task will be reduced. This affect reduces over time if the victim is no longer close to the Dispossessed.

Touch of Despair: The Dispossessed can strike with psychic damage. If there is sufficient such damage, the dispossessed spirit will possess the victim's body, making them one of the Dispossessed. In fact, the Dispossessed often think that the victim's body is their own.
