Medieval is a term to approximate the level of technological, organizational, productive and social complexity of a society. The Rjurik and Orogs are best described as medieval cultures.
Medieval technology is roughly similar to the technology available in Europe between 1000 AD and 1400 AD. Producing Renaissance goods would increase craft DCs by +5 and would require any specialized tools.
Medieval organizations are typically feudal with formal offices to assist province and domain leaders. Loyalty remains personal.
Medieval productivity from the land is approximately three-quarters of Renaissance level productivity. This results in lower population for a given province.
