House of Lazz

No matter what, the city will stand

The House of Lazz was founded by Lazz, one of Viktor the Tyrant's war chiefs during the invasion of Roslöwen. Their home is in Lazzgrad.

After the rise to power, the clan easily bonded with the population, as the land around Lazzgrad was often raided by foreigners from Hjorig or even The Gnoll Fells. The "pact" between the Vos and Brecht became so strong that in time the Vos adopted the Nona Vos culture, while preventing other strong forces, even the clergy of Belinik, from infiltrating the province.

In 470 MR patriarch Mikail Lazz supported Gregor Molev ascension to power, and gained full independence from vassalage, something a Lazz will unavoidably remind other nobles each time the occasion is provided.

[top]Prominent members

Anatoli Lazz is the current patriarch, well in his old age, married to Belinda Jarstoldt, from a cadet branch of a family long fled from Drachenward.
Mara Lazz, sister of Anatoli, was married to Vladimir Brokeslav; now a widow, lives back in Lazzgrad.

[top]Other families and domains

  • There is animosity towards House Nyur, as the Nyur seldom raids the farms in Lazzgrad from Nyurskyy;
  • The house recognizes House Rodelovisk as their peer and therefore as friends - for now at least;
  • There is a strong despise towards the Belinik Tsarevic and Grovnikken Stohlevvskyy, as they are seen as a betrayal of Vos values and mere political tools of oppression. A marriage between Vladimir Brokeslav of the Brokeslav family and Mara Lazz tried to fix that, but the death of Vladimir brought the animosity - and Mara - back.
  • House Evuarr is seen with strong suspicion - the Lazz do not like Evuarrs bullying their southern farmers, but still nothing past that.

[top]Lazz characters

People from House Lazz are always of Vos origin and usually Neutral in alignment: their duty is to the realm, their loyalty is to the province; they are either rangers or fighters, well trained in climbing and spotting, two skills useful in locating enemy dwarves in the Range. The weapon of choice of the family is the Halberd.

In politics, a Lazz character will never question another province's decision - and will expect others to do the same regarding Lazzgrad.

House Lazz provides good scouts trained on the Range, will always be ready for battle when it's about defending Rzhlev, but will complain about defending the border when it's time to invade.
