I don't mind fractions most of the time, but it can be a bit hard to add 1/3 and 1/4 together. That's when we're out in 1/12, since that's the number where they both fit in.
So 1/3 will be 4/12 and 1/4 is 3/12. That's 7/12. However there's no way that we can turn 7/12 into something lower.
I'm up for changing it into something that is a bit easier to calculate in the head. 0.35 and 0.25 is a lot easier to add togtether and doesn't require that you find a number that fits them both. It'd simply be 0.60.

Or just make all calculations with halves and quarters.

The d20 system is being incorporated throughout the D&D world, so why don't we break down a goldbar into 20 different increments so that a d20 can be used if necessary to assimulate any potential random effect. That would mean breaking things into increments of 0.05. Real easy for everybody to deal with.
I don't think the amount of deviation from the base 2nd Edition BR rules of converting 1/3 into .35 would be worth worrying about.
Of course, I am an engineer, and use a calculator for everything, so fractions are a major pain in the butt. :PKill 'em all, let the God's sort them out!!

On this issue, I have found that most pbems simple round up the fractions to the nearest .1 of a GB. So someone with 10 levels of law holdings you collect 3.4 GB and someone with 10 levels of guild holdings would collect 6.7 GB.
That seems an easy enough way to do it, just as long as it is specified that the TOTAL collection is rounded up, not each individual collection..Let me claim your Birthright!!

But if we were to round down each individual collection and put the fractions in a separate account....then we would get the plot of Office Space....
