The Itave are a dispersed halfling community in the realm of the Maze of Maalvar. Some scholars speculate that the labyrinth was created to protect the Itave from the Minotaur, though there are disagreements on whether they were its original builder.

Few know of the Itave as they have no major industries or settlements and there are not many visitors to the realm. The presence of the Itave predates the Battle of Deismaar and may be longer than any other halfling community, even that of the Burrows. The Itave certainly don't actively journey beyond the realm and are fairly content living scattered within the secluded valleys.

South-west of the labyrinth of Beid, the lands of the Itave are regarded as one of the realm's provinces. Even so, fewer than a few hundred people live in this province of the Itave. A mixture of thick forests in steep valleys and lightly wooden hills, what farming is done tends to be unfenced and only for the immediate family. With no roads maintained and no organised government, the Itave rely on their knowledge of the local area to survive and navigate.
