Pathfinder is a continuation and revision by Paizo of Dungeons & Dragons Edition 3.5 which continued to be published after the advent of Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition. Originally it was a supplement to D&D with its own general setting. Since Wizards of the Coast ceased publishing new products for d20 with 4th edition, Pathfinder has elected to revise and continue in the tradition of D&D 3.5 attempting to simplify and standardize rules and eliminate poorly balanced classes, feats, and powers that inevitably crept into new supplements.

Pathfinder 2e is a rewrite and revision of the Pathfinder rules such that they no longer rely on d20 content and its license. See Paizo for details about the various licenses relating to the use and expansion of PF 2e by third parties.

There are no official Pathfinder versions of Birthright, but people have been known to convert the 3.5e BRCS or aspects of it for their own campaigns. See the Pathfinder category for any other Pathfinder-specific BRwiki pages.
