questions on chapter 2
These are a few questions about Chapter 2 : Blood & Regency
1. Becoming blooded through usurpation (p11)
In the example, the scion gains a starting score of 5 but the absorbed regency increases this total by +7 (and not +5) because the final bloodline score is 12 (5 + 7).
2. Blood abilities (p11-12)
On the last paragraph, the referenced table should be table 2-3 : bloodline score and not table 2-2: bloodline score.
3. Blood abilities tables : Table 2-4e Masela Blood abilities (p13)
On the Great abilities column :
84 – 90 => Resistance
92 – 00 => Travel
Where’s the 91 value ?
Is it 84-91 => Resistance or 91-00 => Travel ?
4. Table 2-5 : prerequisites for Blood abilities
In the prerequisites column, does “Bld 20” means that a character can choose this ability only if his bloodline score is 20 or more ?
5. Table 2-5 : prerequisites for Blood abilities
Charm aura prerequisites: Az, Ba, Bre => Az/Ba/Bre ?
Great : Charm aura (Mi) => Charm aura (Ma) ?
6. Major regeneration Blood ability:
In the introduction text, it is said : “A scion with this ability can regenerate severed limbs, …” and in the ability description it is said : “ (but he cannot regenerate severed body parts or …”. Might he regenerate severed body parts or not ?
7. Major resistance Blood ability:
Derivations are missing in the description of these abilities :
Charm (great)
Non-magical attacks (great)
Poison (great)
8. Travel Blood ability:
Frequency: once a week per 5 levels OR once a week + once a week per 5 levels ?
thanks for your answers.Last edited by elric5959; 10-03-2006 at 04:05 PM.

Sorry it took so long to get to this one.
Chapter 2 : Blood & RegencyGood catch – I’ll fix it in the next editing
1.Becoming blooded through usurpation (p11)
In the example, the scion gains a starting score of 5 but the absorbed regency increases this total by +7 (and not +5) because the final bloodline score is 12 (5 + 7).
Correct – I’ll fix in the next editing
3.Blood abilities tables : Table 2-4e Masela Blood abilities (p13)
On the Great abilities column :
84 – 90 => Resistance
92 – 00 => Travel
Where’s the 91 value ?
Good Catch. It should be 91-00 for Travel.
4.Table 2-5 : prerequisites for Blood abilities
In the prerequisites column, does “Bld 20” means that a character can choose this ability only if his bloodline score is 20 or more ?
Yes it is listed as a prerequisite so that is the minimum number required.
Another good catch. Great should have (Ma) as a prerequisite and Major should have (Mi).5.Table 2-5 : prerequisites for Blood abilities
Charm aura prerequisites: Az, Ba, Bre => Az/Ba/Bre ?
Great : Charm aura (Mi) => Charm aura (Ma) ?
It should function just like the regeneration ability from the Monster Manual, with the exception of the ability recovery. This allows scaling with any future changes made to the core rules regeneration ability. I will change the text for clarity to:6.Major regeneration Blood ability:
In the introduction text, it is said : “A scion with this ability can regenerate severed limbs, …” and in the ability description it is said : “ (but he cannot regenerate severed body parts or …”. Might he regenerate severed body parts or not ?
(but he cannot regenerate from severed body parts or reverse . . .
They are the same as the lesser abilities referenced. I’ll reproduce the derivation during the errata.7.Major resistance Blood ability:
Derivations are missing in the description of these abilities :
Charm (great)
Non-magical attacks (great)
Poison (great)
For every 5 levels you get 1 use. Description is the same as some spells like magical vestment ‘You imbue a suit of armor or a shield with an enhancement bonus of +1 per four caster levels (maximum +5 at 20th level).’ Or magic weapon ‘This spell functions like magic weapon, except that it gives a weapon an enhancement bonus on attack and damage rolls of +1 per four caster levels (maximum +5)’8.Travel Blood ability:
Frequency: once a week per 5 levels OR once a week + once a week per 5 levels ?
