OK, what seems to be the reason for opening this thread for discussion about wiki entry from two years ago and then typing nothing?

If they are like me, they clicked on something thinking it was taking them to a discussion thread that was ongoing. I didn't realize (and they probably didn't either) that they were actually STARTING the thread.

Maybe there should be a warning when clicking on the discussion link. That does seem a little confusing to new members, especially if they're used to Wikipedia discussion pages.

And if they are like me, they'll be along shortly to delete the thread

It only happens occasionally these days. My rule generally is, if it's a newbie and looks like an accident, I delete it. That way, the newbie will have to contribute decent emails before they move to an unmoderated state. Otherwise, I tend to leave it there. We don't delete threads over time, so I can't see the harm in leaving them.
That said, I also find it gets me to look at the page and edit it. For this one, there isn't much I can do quickly, but every little bit helps.

OK, I know it's confusing, I've done it myself. But not three times in 24 hrs.

I would have deleted this thread too, but it's started a conversation

Excuse me for interrupting, it's ok to delete this one, too.
