    Sounds good.

The question now is what winning his prize does to Alam - how great will his ego stretch? Will he seek to demand the last of 'his' lands from Avan? His 'peer' Boeruine would surely aid him...

A reunited Alamie is a very powerful land, at least on paper - and a Duke drunk on victory and conquest may not realise properly how he must husband that power before unleashing it, or so un-nerve his neighbours while doing so that they choose to pre-empt his inevitable attack...

I think the players themselves will form an admirable thorn for the Duke, if I know them at all.

The WIT was working very hard to keep the Avins and Alams on friendly terms for the sake of their mutual faiths. (The WIT is a very, very powerful creature thanx to one of the players who I think is now regreting his actions).

Alam has a big ego no doubt but as Old Carilon was replaced in previous play by a Nephew. (Long story). The Nephew has proven surprisingly adept politically much to the chagrin of those who installed him. If the Unholy alliance could be formed...Avin and Alamie the Iron throne may lie within Avans grasp... hence the reason most of the players are thinking of turning to Beoruine to finance their little agitations...and other things..

It sounds like your players are poor judges of character. There seems to be a lot of buyer's regret going on there.

I think it is more a case of ambition outstripping their ability. Also they played political games with one another. Withheld information and such.

I think also the desire to revenge themselves upon their patrons slayer blinded them to the threat of outside forces. When the military actions became so bloody they realized the error, but by then of course they were relying on the "gentle" natures of their neighbors.
