Rjurik Province Names
Some of the Rjurik province names are taken directly from some atlas and
put in (with no thought of what those names really mean). Others are just
combinations of words put together. Some of these are quite funny :-)
Here is a translation:
-Veikanger (capital of Hogunmark); City of the Weak
-Udvika (province in Sjordvik); a vik is a smaller fjord. This is a
mountain province far in the mainland of the continent.
-Bjornoya (province in the Realm of the White Witch); Isle of the Bear.
This province is not an isle. It's a forest province far away from the coast.
-Nordcapp (province in the Realm of the White Witch); Nordkapp is in fact
the most northern point of Norway.
-Soroya (province in the Realm of the White Witch); the Southern Isle,
this is not an isle, but at least it's a coastal province.
-Inherad & Mandal (provinces in the Realm of the White Witch); Innherred
and Mandal are counties in the vicinity of where I live. So this is a
little entertaining.
Most of the other province names are either just made up to sound
Scandinavian or there is some Swedish or Danish (or maybe even Icelandic)
that I don't get.
Have fun.
