The Secret Order of the Flame

I introduced the Secret Order of the Flame through the adventure Dreams.  It was primarily used as a means to introduce two characters to one another, and is based on information from the Cities of the Sun sourcebook.

The Secret Order of the Flame is a secret order of mages based out of the Royal College of Sorcery in the City of Anuire.  It was introduced to the Southern Coast more than seventy generations ago by mages traveling from Khinasi.  Since then, it has maintained close ties to the Temple of Rilni in the Fingers of Ayan of southeastern Khinasi.

Upon reaching appropriate stature, mages are summoned to the Royal College of Sorcery by a series of vivid dreams.  Once there, candidates for membership undergo a series of three rites.  If they pass the rites, they are extended membership in the Order.  Only mages from the Southern Coast may attain full membership.  However, it is common for mages from other regions to be associate members.  All mages from the Southern Coast must be members of the Order.  Any mage who ignores the summons is branded as a rogue mage and is hunted down and killed by the Order.

Although a secret order, rumors of its existence are common throughout the Realms.
