[top]Biography:

William Moergen is the legitimate Duke of Osoerde. William is the son of Gerold Moergen and Gwenaëlle Coeran. Gerold was the Duke of Osoerde until his trusted lieutenant, Jaison Raenech, stole both the throne and its regency from Gerold, leaving William running from bounty hunters seeking the reward for his death.
William had just entered the Impregnable Heart of Haelyn to serve as a squire, when Jaison stole the realm from Gerold. William's departure from his father's house was unknown to Jaison, and the boy survived the coup d'etat in Moriel city and was concealed and protected by the temple of Haelyn. He was spirited into hiding, where he was raised as a knight of Haelyn. Once he came of age, he took up his birthright and began to challenge Jaison's hold on Osoerde.
He plays the foolish youth, pretending to a naïveté, in order to encourage Jaison's arrogance. The usurper has not fallen for any of William's traps, either through natural caution or by means of espionage. Some suspect the usurper has advanced knowledge of William's plans.
William travels among the people speaking rebellion and making his claim from village to village along with a small band of companions. These fellow scions and hardy commoners all share the trust of the rightful duke. Each has saved his life in one way or another over the years. With them he advances his program of recovering the duchy. However, he cannot expect to stay a step or two ahead of the usurper's men forever. William hopes to bring his rebellion to a successful conclusion before some mis-step allows Jaison's men to take hold of him.
