Toeran Avan

Toeran Avan is another of the Prince?s nephews. From a young age, Toeran chafed at his role in society as a child of the court. While his siblings and cousins were brought up in the ways of the nobility, he craved a life of freewheeling adventure. Regarded as the black sheep of the family, Toeran grew ever more isolated from House Avan as he approached his adolescent years. The final rift came when the Prince forbade Toeran from becoming involved with a common woman he met in one of Daulton?s seedier taverns. Two days later, Toeran ran away from the court, never to return. In the ten years since, Toeran has adventured across most of Anuire and even beyond. In recent years, he has established a mercenary company known as the Swords of Avan based in the City of Ilien. Comprising some of the best cavalry in Anuire, the Red Lance have attracted similarly disaffected nobles and the children of nobles who stand to inherit little to nothing. Known as one of the best mercenary companies in Anuire, regents scramble over themselves to hire it. Recent rumors tell of a romantic entanglement between Toeran and Alliene Tilgentor. These remain unconfirmed.
