Typical Dialogue:
"Guilder Holtson, we are honored that you take notice of our little province. Do me the honor of accepting this silver cup as a token of my good will."
"I would prefer to be known as Lord Jarl Bjondrig rather than Count Bjondrig."
"The Oaken Grove is strong here, by Erik!"
"Welcome Hervard, I hope you come looking forward to a hunt. I always find that political matters are best discussed in pursuit of elusive prey. Yeah, that is the nature of all lasting political solutions, elusive, no?."
"Tell King Varri that we would be honored to attend his feast for Erik's May."

Biography:

Some forty years ago, Richard Bjondrig succeeded to the county of Bjondrig. Richard was offered a pension to surrender his authority to Holt Vigirsson, the guilder of the Stjordvik Traders. His wife, Saehild of Saerskaap, was infuriated by Richard's abandonment of his patrimony, leaving little for their son, Thjobald, beyond the title. Saehild's brother, Leif Dagmaersson, died fighting Rjuvik raiders, and Saehild always lamented that no fitting death ever took the weak Richard in the same way. In her son Thjobald, she instilled a firm desire to recover the law and authority of his realm.

Today, the Stjordvik Traders are much more powerful and so Count Thjobald has had to accommodate himself to Storm Holtson. While the count harbors the desire to see his law restored to the provincial ruler, he accepts that preserving his title and what authority he does have depends more upon Holtson than upon any other person. Thjobald recognizes Baroness Fhiele as his overlord, but is put off by her part-elven nature. If she were more of a power in the county he would be inclined to give her more due, but she is nothing more than a nominal ruler with some influence in the center of the realm. The Oaken Grove of Erik not only serves the spiritual needs of the people of Bjondrig, but Thjobald himself. The Grove regards guilders like Storm Holtson as defilers of the sacred land, but recognizes that no force stands to oppose them. Thjobald takes the council of his druids seriously. Clumine Dhoesone holds the sources in Thjobald's realm, and the wizard and cousin of the Baroness acts as the most trusted intermediary between the Count and the Baroness. Thjobald trusts Clumine, and regards her arcane power as both significant and employed for the good of Dhoesone. The Count's own impression of Daeric Dhoesone has been influenced by Clumine.

Thjobald's mother, Saehild is the younger sister of Bestla Dagmaersdotter who married Skjada Njalgrimsson, known as One-Eye, the Eorl of Saerskaap. Hence, Thobald is Skjada's nephew.

Thjorbald lost several of his family in the shivering plague, and is vehemently opposed to any action that could unleash the plague again. Beyond his mother, Thjorbald's surviving relatives are his beloved daughters Freya and Brandi, his wastrel nephew Osmund Bjondrig, and his greedy cousin Anders Bjondrig.
