Biography:
When Terence Gryphon was the squire of Jaison Raenech, he drew his master away from the teachings of Haelyn and, with the help of Kevin Ghyllwn, toward the doctrines of Belinik. Like his master, Jaison, Terence believes that the strong should rule and casts an eager eye on the day when he perceives that the Duke's power is slipping, for it will be then that Terence will make his move and depose his master just as Jaison deposed Gerold Moergen. However, it is unlikely that Terence would make such a move as long as William Moergen remains insurgent. Because usurpation always creates confusion in a realm, Terence will not destroy Jaison until he has captured and executed William.
This capable and ambitious man leads the duke's men in the search for William Moergen. Terence is clever and cunning, laying traps for William which the young pretender has so far avoided. The outlaw wizard who goes by the sobriquet Second Swamp Mage is certainly in the rebel camp and must be helping William evade the headman's axe. Terence suspects others aid him as well, and casts his net of suspicion widely. He looks at Coeranys and Aerenwe as enemies, and the temples and guilds of the land as dangerous and subversive. The duke stays Terence to avoid fighting one of these domains while the young pretender is still free to stir rebellion.
