[top]Biography:

A beautiful woman in her early thirties, Soraene Alam is the only daughter of Carilon Alam, Duke of Alamie, and his second child. She is renowned as a great beauty by the people of Alamie, but her manipulative nature has chased off any would-be-suitors.
Currently away in the Imperial City completing her final year of studies at the College of Sorcery, Soraene usually serves as her father?s representative to the lesser nobility of Alamie, and as an ambassador-at-large to the rest of Anuire. Hers is a familiar face in many Anuirean courts, and although few trust or even like her father, Soraene?s mask of etiquette and courtesy have done much to win friends for the Alamie cause.
Like her younger brother, her life is still very much run by her father and even her studies at the College were at the urging of Carilon, who saw the need of a loyal wizard serving Alamie. Although she serves in the position of a trusted lieutenant at home, Soraene relishes the time she spends away from her family. She fears that one day her father will seek to husband for her and she dreads being ?sold off? as part of her father?s plans, although if that was his wish she would comply.
Although she is not aware of this, her father?s plans for her are much more extensive. Knowing he will not live forever, Carilon hopes his daughter will take over the duchy on his death, preferring her to his mad son, Taelan Alam. The duke has yet to make this decision public knowledge though and if he died without naming his heir, another bloody civil war could erupt, or even worse, Taelan could take the throne.
