Sister Thelma in Talhundt has her doubts about Mother Superior Griselda who heads the local temples; the Mother Superior never confides in Thelma any more and a strange musty scent hangs about her. Thelma has been documenting the odd behavior of the mother superior and the changes to church doctrine and has written several letters on the subject to her old school chum Helga of Sera in violation of strict doctrine in the independent churches to avoid the church of Sera's Perfekt Symmetry. Thelma has yet to send any of these letters and they rest in the hands of a trusted fishing boat captain who hides them in his cabin while he waits for sister Thelma?s request to take them to Caebstrech.
