As an ancient and powerful Awenshegh, Rhuobhe has access to many more minor magic items, including but not limited to potions and scrolls. He also has access to a wide range of mundane equipment of elven manufacture, and has been known to use flying mounts such as griffons. He will not use items - even magical ones - of non-elven manufacture unless there is absolutely no choice.
[top]Combat
Rhuobhe is a skilled combatant who has defeated countless heroes. He prefers to use his spellcasting abilities to boost his already significant melee and ranged combat abilities, and ward himself from attacks. If prepared for battle, he will likely have haste, blur, endurance, and fire shield already cast. If opponents prove to be formidable magic-users or heavily boosted with magic, he will cast antimagic field or greater dispelling. He won't hesitate use spells to summon allies into battle, or even to cover his withdrawal if it becomes necessary. He tends not to use direct damage spells except for area of effect spells "to clear out the rabble" when facing large numbers of opponents.
Spells: Rhuobhe is an accomplished (Sorcerer) wizard, with the ability equivalent to that of a 15th level wizard for all purposes (having a total of 4/5/5/5/5/3/2/1 spells per day), including ability to cast Realm Spells.
Immunities: Rhuobhe's skin has been toughened and darkened by the blood of Azrai, giving him not only the natural armor bonus noted above but also making him immune to all missile weapon attacks, including ballistas, but not thrown weapons (including catapult stones). In addition, his Azrai-enhanced vision allows him to pierce all illusions, including invisibility. He retains the elven immunity to sleep, and +2 save bonus vs. enchantment effects.
Archer Arcana: When using any bow, but not crossbows, Rhuobhe has no need of ammunition. Every time he draws a bowstring, a bolt of blue energy (force) is summoned. These function as the equivalent of +5 arrows.
Camouflage: Rhuobhe is able to set up ambushes in any natural terrain, using his Hide skill even if there is no cover or concealment. He is able to allow his allies to benefit from this ability as well, if he makes a successful Warcraft check (with a penalty of -2 per ally above 20. I.E. if he was leading a force of 24 raiders, the check would be made with a -8 penalty). This enables him to lead a small raiding party through enemy lands with little chance of detection. (Note, however, his allies must use their own Hide skill bonus when covered by this ability, albeit with a +2 bonus as if they were being assisted).
Creature of Shadow: Rhuobhe's enhanced vision allows him to see in the dark as if it were full light, even through magical darkness and complete darkness. However, his sensitive eyes abhor the light: he takes a -4 penalty to hit and on all skill checks conducted in daylight or its equivalent (bright light, including well-lit rooms).
Elven Armor Supremacy: When wearing armor of elven manufacture, or using a shield of elven make, Rhuobhe is able to use his full dexterity bonus (applying it even when wearing his elven half-plate Glaivebreaker), suffers no armor check penalty to skills, is able to move at his full speed, and perhaps most importantly his spells have no chance of failure.
Favored Enemy (Humans): Rhuobhe does +4 damage to any human he hits. This ability functions identically to that of a Ranger's favored enemy ability.
Nature Stride: Though he has lost most of his humanity, Rhuobhe retains the sidhelien ability to move through natural terrain at his full movement rate without suffering damage.
Swift Tracker: As the Ranger ability of the same name, Rhuobhe can make Track checks to hunt down his opponents while moving at his full speed, without taking the normal -5 penalty.
Timeless: Despite the fact that he has left much of his Sidhelien nature behind and become a creature of darkness, Rhoubhe remains timeless.
Wild Empathy: Rhuobhe is able to improve the attitude of (natural) animals, as if employing the Diplomacy Skill with a +20 bonus.
Bloodline: Rhuobhe was one of the few creatures blessed (or cursed) with a True bloodline of Azrai. His score of 48 grants him the following blood abilities:
Appearance: Rhuobhe looks like a tall, regal elf, but his skin has become darkened and grey, making him look more like a marble statue than a living being. His eyes gleam like pearls, their pupils and irises having vanished. When he is angered, these eyes blaze with the light of his fury.
Biography:
When Rhuobhe Manslayer was a young elf, whiling away his time in the southern Aelvinnwode on the banks of the Maesil River, in the lands now known as Ghoere, the human tribes began migrating to Cerilia. Though their were skirmishes and conflicts that sometimes occurred between the humans and elves, no particular animosity arose between the two races. Thus, the elves sought human aid to repulse a rising goblin tide. Humans and elves worked together, though not always side by side, and they learned much about each other. As humans pushed the goblins back, Rhuobhe found himself fascinated by the newcomers.
Eventually, when the goblins were beaten back, the humans began to settle the Cerilian shores in earnest. Rhuobhe thought nothing of this and even befriended a few newcomers, showing them the wonders of Cerilia. When the humans began to abuse the forests, betraying the trust he had placed in them, he had second thoughts. He spoke to his friends and asked them to stop their destructive ways but they mocked him and sent him on his way. Bitter and angry he joined then the gheallie Sidhe, the Hunt of Elves, and hunted humans with a fervour heretofore unseen by the elves. Still the hunters were glad to have him, for he was an excellent hunter, and they labelled him Manslayer for his efforts.
When Azrai approached the elves with his plans to destroy the humans, Rhuobhe eagerly signed on. Later, when the elf armies deserted the foul god upon the realization of what he stood for, Rhuobhe remained with the god of evil. Indeed he was astonished that his fellows would abandon their hatred for humans so quickly. As a result of his loyalty and hatred he was bathed in Azrai's essence and transformed into an abomination.
Rhuobhe Manslayer has since used his powers to further his agenda of human destruction. Establishing himself in a strategically important pass between the Seamist and the Stonecrown mountain ranges, he has harried and bedevilled humans for nearly 1.500 years.
Rhuobhe now pends his time plotting the downfall of humanity from his fortress on the shores of a snow-fed lake in the Seamist mountains. He has gathered a force of elves loyal to his cause and twisted by their association with it. His hatred for humanity grows a little each year, and wit it his rages, but so far he has been able to control them and retain his ability to conduct subtle, long-term plots.
