A Pen and Paper (PnP) or tabletop roleplaying game is one that is conducted face-to-face with the other players and the DM, often around a central area like a table where any maps and minature figurines can be placed and dice rolls can be done. Traditionally, any notes or records are kept by the particpants using their own notepads, hence "pen and paper". These days, laptop computers can play the same function.
This term is normally reserved for roleplaying adventures, rather than realm-level scenarios or wargaming.
