Pfalzgraf

Brechtür » Title » Pfalzgraf
Pfalzgraf (feminine: Pfalzgräfin) is the ancient title among the Brecht for the regent of a realm. The word comes from the combination of palace and count, indicating a ruler who had his own palace, meaning a sovereign count. While some rulers in Brechtür adopted the Anuirean notion of a Duke as regent, some realms were never part of the Empire, and retained this ancient title.
The adjectival prefix "Pfalzgrafen" means "pertaining to a Pfalzgraf" and is typically attached to the word in question. Such as, "Pfalzgrafenburg" for the castle of the Pfalzgraf.
A Pfalzgraf's realm is generally referred to as a Pfalzgrafschaft.
