Cerilian horse » Palfrey
A palfrey is a type of horse that is prized for its smooth gait, making riding more comfortable and graceful. It is not a specific breed but rather a horse who has been bred and trained for easy riding. A palfrey has a long body and shorter legs. The significant characteristic of the palfrey was that, rather than trotting, it usually possessed a smooth, ambling gait. The amble is about as fast as the trot, not tiring for a horse that performs it naturally, and much smoother for the rider. Thus, because much ground transportation in Cerilia is on horseback, with long distances to be covered, a smooth-gaited horse is much desired.
Palfreys are not swift horses, as breeds swift at the gallop also tend to trot rather than pace or amble.
Palfreys are trained to respond to precise commands from the rider through body position, use of the reins, and sounds. Palfreys use their high intelligence to interpret the will of the rider, learn tricks, such as coming when their master whistles, and learning intricate dressage movements.

Evasion (Ex): Palfreys can avoid even magical and unusual attacks with great agility. If she makes a successful Reflex saving throw against an attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save, she instead takes no damage. Evasion can be used only if the palfrey is lightly encumbered or less. A helpless palfrey does not gain the benefit of evasion.

Swift Hooves (Ex): Palfreys respond quickly and precisely to dangers to them or their riders. When facing a single opponent or a single mount and rider, the palfrey receives a +2 competence bonus to AC. If the mount and rider is not a palfrey, the bonus us +3.

Uncanny Dodge (Ex): Palfreys can react to danger before her senses would normally allow her to do so. She retains her Dexterity bonus to AC even if she is caught flat-footed or struck by an invisible attacker. However, she still loses her Dexterity bonus to AC if immobilized.
