[top]Biography:

The current High Prefect of the Impregnable Heart of Haelyn is Hubaere Armiendin, the man who made the IHH the great and proud order of Haelyn that it is today. He has accomplished much for the order, including signing the pact with Daen Roesone, the Black Baron, in 544 MR declaring the Impregnable Heart the official faith in the barony, organized the cure against the terrible plague that ravaged Ilien in 546 MR, constructor of the Great Cathedral of Ilien, and chief commander of the recent push of the Impregnable Heart into Osoerde.

Hubaere Armiendin is a noble of the Armiendin family of Ilien with a strong bloodline. He was born into the Impregnable Heart by family tradition and spent a long and happy youth chasing good-looking young women until his father decided to put an end to this youthful frivolity by sending his son to the strictly disciplined Abbey of the True Heart in Edlin, Roesone. His younger brother and sister were soon to follow.

In his many years at the Abbey, Hubaere learned of the harshness of the world, and of the power of Haelyn, the Ruler of the Gods. He learned the tenets of the order swiftly and was deeply impressed by their clarity and fairness, he quickly rose in ranks and in 523 MR, at an age of only 23, he become one of the stern monks himself.

On a diplomatic trip to Ilien in 529 MR, however, he fell hopelessly in love with a local merchant's daughter and, regardless of his father urging him toward a promising career in the Abbey, he decided to stay in Ilien with his newfound love. Hubaere left the Order of the Abbey and requested a position as teacher at the Impregnable Heart headquarters in Ilien, a role which his formidable intellect and rigorous understanding of temple creed seemed to make him well suited.

The fiercely disciplined hard-working youngster had expected to be awed by the workings of the greatest temple of the faith. Instead he was amazed by the undisciplined apparatus of the High Prefect. Vastly more able than others in the temple, Hubaere quickly advanced until the High Prefect, perhaps fearful of this young upstart (some noted that many energetic young priests were soften reassigned away from the temple and that only the more 'undemanding' priests stayed long at the temple) demanded that Hubaere be spent to faraway Bellam, and spread the faith there.

Although surprised by the sudden transfer (particularly given the large number of improvements he had just begun to innovate in the temple) Hubaere obediently followed the High Prefect's instructions and moved with his wife and young child to a small shrine in Bellam. Through his great rhetoric abilities he managed to convert the Bellam family who ruled the province fully to the Impregnable Heart, and he continued into Osoerde in his quest for the enlightenment of the Anuireans to the true teachings of Haelyn. In the Osoerde province of Ghalliere his wife bore him yet another child.

Hubaere grew much in power during the years of conquest in northeastern Roesone and western Osoerde until, as if by favor of Haelyn, the High Prefect retired unexpectedly due to illness, leaving Hubaere and three other leading priests of the Impregnable Heart as the main candidates for the High Prefect title. The three rival priests planned the 'accidental' death of Hubaere rather than face him directly, but the chief assassin died in agony as he was struck by a massive column of fire that suddenly engulfed him.

With the column of fire widely hailed as a miracle Hubaere's relative youth was no obstacle to his progression and he headed for Ilien. Well aware of his rivals' conniving ways, Hubaere demanded that the right for regency be decided by personal combat, and the three rival priests immediately withdrew their claims on the title. So it was that in 538 MR Hubaere assumed the title of High Prefect of the Impregnable Heart, and began his long quest towards putting an end to the corruption in the order, the regaining of its lost honor, and the temple's further expansion.

High Prefect Armiendin himself is a large man and, although stern he is open, outgoing and quite friendly, particularly to those who share his ambitions to expand his temple's holdings throughout Anuire. He believes the Anuireans in the neighboring nations have been misled by either non-Anuirean gods, or wrongful teachings of Haelyn. He is firmly convinced that the people of these lands will, as they have so far, convert to the IHH when shown the just and wise nature of its philosophy.
