Gredaur a province of Overlook brecht realm of Grevesmühl. Although an highland province at heart and in culture, the highland actually declines in a series of hills and slopes towards the south and southwest, culminating in the southwestern woods and the plains in common with Haldwaren and Jardwessen.
Gredaur was founded by Anton Greves himself when he was kicked out of Westriet after his divorce. He founded the city of Daugren in a small cove at the end of the strait and slowly built the new colony up to the cliffs of the highland. An infamous grevesmulig's bad joke tells that the province's name was supposed to be a simple anagram of the city, however Greves did not know how to write in runes thus the province is called Gredaur instead of Gredaun. Scholars however insist that Gredaur is simply how the imperials used to call the city of Daugren during the anuirean invasion.
Settlements around the capital follow the highland's way of life, with strong indipendent clans resembling rjurik ways more than brecht. Gredaurhers proudly (and ironically) boast that Gredaur has the worst possible weather in all Grevesmühl, this being prove by an ancient story from when Emperor Roele himself avoided the province due to the bad weather, and thus decided to promote Trie as capital of the land.
Grevesmühl politics forbid the Duke to own a province, as his role should be as an overseer of all provinces without any favouritisms. Thus, graf Dekker Aldor, mayor of Daugren, oversees the whole province. A cousin of the more famous Arlinda Aldor, The mayor's work is mostly as a negotiator between the guild and the crown, seeing that the crown does not interfere with the guild's business but also that the guild doesn't create any trouble to the Duke. Perhaps the greatest sign of Grevesmühl's decadency, the province declares itself as rosenröt.

Sergeant Everard Brightsword of the Silver Guard is in charge of the Grevesmühlig guard here, consisting of several volunteers among the woodsmen, ensuring that no threat comes from the mountains of Eiresmachen. Sheriff August Thundarr is the official ranger of the woodland community, and he has little simpathy for the guard, seen as a competitor. The sheriff's headquarter is near Nauricht pond, a small but incredibly deep pond near the center of the province.

[top]The Hill of Bad Omen
the Slechtomenhügel or Hill of Bad Omen is a great Hill located in between the southern/southwestern forest. During the War of the roses was the theatre of an important battle between the imperial loyalists and the rebel houses. local folklore says that during the Eve of the dead the spirits of the soldier who fought the battle, led by their respective white rose and red rose commander, come back from the dead, from the highland mist, and form a procession from the highlands down to the hill, where the battle is re-enacted. the local priest Gustav Fürtold says that the commanders' bodies (along with their possessions) were never found thus they cannot rest in peace.
