A gazebo is a small building, generally lightly constructed, which is found on lawns. It is a fairly inoffensive piece of property somewhat more upmarket than a hut and more permanent than a marquee without being being as pretentious as a folly.
The connection between D&D and gazebos goes back some time to the 1970s when minor issues like ecology were ignored and players got used to fighting at the drop of a hat and only the suicidal held back. The story of Eric and the Gazebo is related in the following website: [1]. Do not visit this website if you like to think of all roleplayers as folk of courage, honor and vision for it tells a sadly more honest tale of some of us.
