Hrm. Social skills, I guess, although kind of everything is what I had in
mind. A sort of diplomat/guilder was what I had in mind with the Diirk
Watershold comparison. Someone who moves around a lot and has a lot of
contacts and is always on the lookout for information. Sort of Bruenor meets
Silk from the Belgariad. I would also be interested in any profound
dichotomies that develop in planning the character out.
Mark V.
(Actually, part of my goal is to see how different the resulting character
is from a standard Dwarf Rog10, which is what Diirk is listed as in the
Rulebook.)

There we go. A nice, cozy Word document.... Just my speed. :)
A few questions/comments:
1. First of all, I didn`t see any information regarding regency collection
in the class description. Is bloodline score still a separate mechanic
from the class or is it related to scion class levels? Is a character with
the scion class able to collect regency from any type of holding or must he
also have levels in another class? How does bloodline strength figure into
the class, if at all?
2. How did you come up with the various class features? That is, why d8
HD? Why the fast Will save progression and the medium BAB
progression? Why a bonus feat at 3rd level and then every 5th level
thereafter? Waiting until 9th level to get the Augment Aura ability seems
like rather a long time, especially given the way the ability
scales.... Might that not be better starting at a lower level?
3. Are you picturing characters levelling up in the class just like any
other character class by earning XP to gain levels? Will the class have
multi-classing penalties?
4. Your version of Improved Leadership seems a bit unwieldy to me. I went
with a simple +4 to leadership score (back when I thought the Leadership
feat was a good idea in the first place, that is) and that seemed to
work. I do, however, like the basic idea behind increasing the number of
followers based on control of a domain. Given the connection to the size
of the domain in the description I`m wondering if something like that might
not be better divorced from the character class and turned into some
generalized, adventure level effect for control of a domain.

The BRCS is not authoritative. Especially on stuff like this, it`s
derived material. From Blood Spawn, in this case.

It may be a separate plane, but that doesn`t necessarily make it an origin
for outsiders. Alternate prime material planes are standard features of
D&D cosmologies, and that`s probably the best fit for the shadow world.
And natives of prime material planes are not outsiders (barring bizzaro
20th level monks and such).

When it comes to monster types of awnsheghlien I think just about any type
should be possible. Awnsheghlien are such a wide ranging and versatile
"group" that just about any possible game mechanic fits into the
concept. The question to me, though, isn`t just what should be possible,
but when and how. Let`s say, for example, that one wanted to apply the
undead descriptor and all the game mechanical tweaks that go with it to a
couple of awnsheghlien like the Vampire, the Magian, possibly even the
Banshee. At what point in the development of an awnshegh does that aspect
of the character kick in?
I prefer to treat awnsheghlien/ersheghlien as a transformative prestige
class with the actual class features represented by a rather broad special
ability called "transformation" that represents some benefit to the
character like claws, wings, scales, etc. I imagine the monster type
fitting into that special ability, but I`m not so sure it should be
available at low levels of the prestige class. That is, should it be
available just like any other transformation or should it only be available
at, say, the 7th level of the class?

>>>Noone, not even the elfs in Middle-earth are capable
of defeating Sauron in the 3rd age or even have a chance of
succeessfully attacking him at the Barad-Dur. The only way to defeat him is to destroy the large part of his power he stored in his ring.
The Ishtari are fobidden from using power to defeat Sauron, so the a statment of "no one could defeat him" is misleading. We don`t know if he could have been defeated by his Ishtari counterparts.
The elves could defeat him, but in doing so the would inherit the corruption of Morgoth. These are Roleplay restrictions that are believable - and have some counterpart in BR.
Defeating Azrai, by killing those of his blood, is a sure way to corrupt yourself - ensuring that anyone powerful enough to do it, will not risk the cost associated with it.
[Off topic, but only brought up because I saw the link between Morgoth and Azrai in the nature of their corruption.]

http://www.avalanchepress.com/line_d20CelticAge.php
Avalanche Press appears to be supporting Celtic setting materials. The
above link includes information about the book _Celtic Age: Roleplaying the
Myths, Heros, and Monsters of the Celts_, and _The Little People: A d20
Guide to Celtic Fairies_.
Many (myself including) have observed a strong Celtic flavor in all of
Cerilia, most especially in the Sidhe, but substantially in Anuire and
Rjurik as well. I`m looking at _Little People_ as a source book for the
Shadow (and Spirit) worlds. _Celtic Age_ seems to have a more general
application, and I`m curious to see more.
