Khinasi » Title » Faris
Faris (feminine: Farisa, plural fursan) is the Basarji word for a heavily armored horseman who has been trained in the arts of fur?siyya, including riding, animal husbandry, archery, and charging with a lance.
The term is a derivation of faras "horse", but is related to a related derivation, fárasa, "to kill a prey", because one of the great sports of the fursan is hunting. Further, hunting many beasts is forbidden to all but fursan.
