Typical Dialogue: "I presume you couldn't afford the other half of that dress?" (to a minor noblewoman at a ball who'd come in an extremely revealing gown)
"I am the Duchess of Brosengae in my own right and I'll thank you not to forget that."
"Like any true noble of Anuire, I am of course opposed to all types of oppression... military, magical and religious."

[top]Biography:

Lady Eriene Mierelen, Duchess of Brosengae and Countess of Bindier, is a dazzlingly beautiful, resourceful and extremely headstrong noblewoman, and yet she is very much an outsider in terms of Anuire's rulers.

The daughter of an insurrectionist, Maeric Mierelen, and an elf, Elaenadaere Dhoelachnal, Eriene is the head of her branch of the Mierelen family despite Andu law preferring male heirs above all and notably Basaia-blooded amidst many Anduiras-blooded nobility, the Duchess has not let these many seeming setbacks knock her off-balance. Despite two crushing family disasters in as many years and the departure of her mother Gods-know-where, her elder son and heir is about to come of age and the Brosen legacy looks set to continue.

The Duchess is now unmarried and (once more) extremely eligible, freed from such tiring concerns as marriage or providing an heir. A glittering figure at all the best social functions, it is said that the royal dressmakers of Brosengae are the best-paid and most highly-regarded craftspeople in the entire duchy, with their ideas becoming the fashions of Brosengae and, in due course, all of Anuire.

After the death of her husband, Gavin Mierelen, Count of Bindier, she is now the only parent to her four children, Magnus Mierelen (her 17-year-old heir), her 14-year-old twin daughters Ranele Mierelen and Renae Mierelen and her younger son, Jonathan Mierelen, aged eight. Despite that the Duchess is half-Elven, only her younger daughter Renae seems to have retained any elven blood, being both fey and mercurial.

Although a fair-weather attendee at the Temple of Fortune at the best of times, the Duchess is very keen to ensure some level of religious freedom (or freedom from religion) in her duchy and, so far, the Western Imperial Temple have been denied all opportunities to expand into Brosengae.
