[top]History

During the age of the Imperial Temple, Storm's Height was an academy in Moriel where soldiers were trained in the right attitude to war according to the doctrines of the Imperial Temple as administered by the High Prefect of Cuiraécen within the Militant Order of Cuiraécen devoted to the Stormlord's aspect of storm. It is an academy that has seen many a year come and pass by. With the dissolution of the Imperial Temple, the Militant Order took its own path, and for a time, Storm's Height followed their lead. However, as more and more of the old Imperial temple fractured, Storm's Height also chose to pursue an independent course. The Militant Order continued to espouse the Champion doctrine, while Storm's Height embraced the Stormlord Doctrine that, like the heart of a storm, violence and battle are inevitable, and that embracing the impetuous fire of Cuiraécen and acting without a calculus is the true heart of the Stormlord. Decisive action, rather than deliberate action is prized.
Storm's Height was no longer an center for the education of soldiers, but a Church in its own right.

[top]Major Centers of Worship

The central temple of the church lies in Moriel, the capital of Osoerde. This good-sized temple has a famous fresco on the ceiling of the altar room. It was painted to commemorate the order's hundredth birthday. Today many worshipers of Cuiraécen visit the temple just to see it. The fresco shows Cuiraécen?s face in the centre of storm clouds and lightning. Some parts of the storm clouds are shaped as mounted knights fighting against dark shadows. The Moriel Cuiraécen fresco is a DC 37 work or art. Attempts to save against the effects of viewing the fresco are made against this DC.

"The passion caused by the great and sublime fresco in Moriel . . . is Astonishment; and astonishment is that state of the soul, in which all its motions are suspended, with some degree of horror. In this case the mind is so entirely filled with its object, that it cannot entertain any other."

: from a description of the Moriel Cuiraécen in Eastern Anuire after the Empire
The Moriel Cuiraécen fills the viewer with fervor, anxiety, terror, and confidence. The work also explains the principles of the Stormlord, especially embracing the impetuous fire of Cuiraécen and acting without a calculus which is the true heart of the Stormlord. Decisive action, rather than deliberate action is inspired by the fresco.
