Description: Presbyter Raemes is a tall, portly gentleman in his fifties, with flaming red hair and, despite his age, the endurance of an ox. These quirks, in addition to his facial features strongly resembling those of the Archduke of Boeruine, have spawned constant rumours about his parentage, but he dismisses all speculation that reaches his ears without even discussing it. He is unashamedly pro-Boeruine in his leanings, but he is an excellent orator and noted theologian despite this seeming setback.

[top]Biography:
Presbyter Raemes is Aeric Boeruine's bastard son, resulting from the drunken union of Aeric in his early twenties and the daughter of a rich merchant. Unable to wed her because he was already betrothed to Kaela Isilviere (and because she was an unblooded commoner), his father paid off the merchant and his daughter handsomely and entrusted the baby boy into the care of the Abbess of Borric Abbey.
Raemes grew up in the abbey, taking holy orders when he became an adult. His father's unexplained patronage made the abbey very wealthy and he received an excellent standard of education, becoming first Prior and then Abbot at his grandfather's abbey when his adoptive mother died. When the previous Presbyter of Seasedge died, Aeric sent a firm but polite letter to the Thane of Talinie, requesting Raemes' appointment as Presbyter of Seasedge. As he had been on her list of potential appointees anyway, the Thane acquiesced to his desire and Raemes was anointed as the spiritual leader of Boeruine's most prestigious presbyterate.
After his appointment, Aeric called him to his private study and acknowledged that Raemes was his illegitimate son, but that he would never publicly declare this. Raemes accepted this, knowing that having taken holy orders he was ineligible for the throne anyway, and has served faithfully and well as Aeric's personal adviser for the last fifteen years. He maintains a well-stocked town house and hired staff for private meetings and instead uses his state rooms in Castle Seaharrow purely for day to day business.

[top]Notes
The campaign in which Thelandrin devised this character posited Aeric Boeruine as being born in late spring, 476 MR, and possessing the Long Life (Minor) blood ability. Feel free to revise the years and ages above to fit in with the established chronology so far.
