Arlen Innis, the Mage of Boeruine, is a vassal of Aeric Boeruine, the Archduke of Boeruine. Arlen is a rival of Harald Khorien, the Count of Taeghas who devoted his time to things arcane.
Arlen wishes to expand his source domain beyond Boeruine, but the Archduke fears that the additional tensions will just create more enemies for Boeruine to fend off. Otherwise, the Archduke does not care how Arlen achieves the tasks he sets before the wizard, only that he does so.
His wife, Breanna Braeloren is the younger daughter of Niela Braeloren, the wizard Hermedhie.
His sister, Guinevere Innis, is a lady in waiting for the Archduchess, Kaela Isilviere.
