[top]Biography:
Lord Albrecht Danig, the Count?s slightly-doddering uncle is the eldest living member of the House Danig; he was the youngest brother of the previous Count, Erik?s father. Since childhood, Albrecht displayed a powerful interest in the strange and bizarre, especially magical creatures. When he came of age, he requested that his father (the Count at the time) appoint him to the position of Head Librarian of the Danig Academy, which was at that time a rather small military collection. Since that time, over 60 years ago, Albrecht has worked hard to transform the Academy Library into the world?s best repository of information on the animals and plants, natural and magical, of Cerilia. His greatest accomplishment as a young man was to lead an expedition to kill, study and preserve a krakenkinder. The magnificent creature is still suspended over the expanded atrium of the Library.
Recently, an expedition he organized and led by his nephew Hermann captured a live polar bear. This he gave to his nephew Erik and has quickly become a symbol of the power and majesty of this ancient House. The Count, for his part, seems amused by his slightly senile, overly obsessed, kindly uncle and will often pay for the bodies brought back by expeditions to add to the Library?s collection. Due to the patronage of both the Count and Albrecht, monster-hunting has become quite in vogue of late in Danigau and many young Danig noblemen travel to distant lands to hunt and bring back creatures and information. Many of the minor noble houses have begun investing in pelts and other trophies as signs of their own prowess and wealth. Albrecht, however, is more interested in the information needed to finally finish his magnum opus: "The Magical Creatures of Cerilia".
