I was just re-reading the Player`s Secrets of Ilien book today, and I came
across something interesting that I had forgotten about. There was
apparently once an awnsheigh called The Lich, that was driven back to the
Shadow World after doing plenty of damage. There is also reference to
"minor undead awnsheighlein".

I never really thought of that. Has anyone actually used undead minor
awnsheighlein before?

How do you guys handle awnsheigh encounters anyway? For me, awnsheigh
encounters would tend to result in PCs hunting down and killing the
awnsheigh before it can do anymore damage. The encounters tend to be fairly
balanced. Rarely is the goal to "drive off" the awnsheigh; but the Shadow
World is a nice tool for that sort of thing. After all, banishing an
Awnsheigh (somehow) to the Shadow World is pretty much just as good as
killing it. So undead awnsheigh are useful because I can have truly
powerful awnsheigh that the PCs have no hope of beating, but give provide
some condition that can send it back to the Shadow World. This even allows
me have a recurring villain (something that`s *really* hard to do in a
roleplaying game -- I`ve tried).

I just wondered what you`re thoughts were on awnsheigh encounters.
