The group i use to play started asking for the ability to improve the armies .... something like "I dont want the standard knights i want something else ..."

So i decided to try some stuff .... althoug we haven't played a lot since then .... holydays and work dont let us....

So i decided to let my players buy whatever eq they want for the armies as long as all the mens in an army have the same eq. Usually they can buy it for half the price.

I let them use all the equipment from phb 3ed

heres an example of what may cost _only_ the equipment of an unit:
    50/2 gp x200 warriors = 5.000 gp (standard eq)
    400/2 gp x200 warriors = 40.000 gp (1 master work weapon)
    2.000/2 gpx200 warriors =200.000 gp (1 weapon +1 )

Also am thinking to try this:
the armies usually have standard lvl 1 warriors and this warriors can level up .... but:

    lvl--salary/day--salary/month--unit/month--unit/3 months
    1 ----- 2 sp ------- 6gp -------- 1.200 gp ----- 3.600 gp
    2 ----- 3 sp ------- 9gp -------- 1.800 gp ----- 5.400 gp
    3 ----- 5 sp ------- 15gp ------- 3.000 gp ----- 9.000 gp
    4 ----- 8 sp ------- 24gp ------- 4.800 gp ----- 14.400 gp
    5 ----- 12 sp ------ 36gp ------- 7.200 gp ----- 21.600 gp
    6 ----- 17 sp ------ 51gp ------ 10.200 gp ---- 30.600 gp

easilly enough they stop asking for options and started searching for money. :)

For mass combat ..... well ... i got 1 sistem i want to try, not necessary good but would like to see it in action.

gonna explain it for 2 units with 200 mens each.

    * Initiative for both units

    attack roll for 1st unit.

if 1st unit hits the 2nd then roll damage eg 5.
    roll a d10 dice eg 2

--> this means 20% hit in this case = 40 mens

    the total damage was 200 warriors x 20% x 5 = 200 hp

now i record the damage as if 40 warriors from unit 1 hit 40 warriors from unit 2

UNIT 2 each warrior has 10 hp ( standard for lvl 1 warrior)
    nr. of mens --- DAMAGE(10)
    40 --------------- 5

UNIT 2 attacks lets supose it fails

UNIT 1 attacks and hits does 3 damage and 60% hit

    UNIT 2
    nr. of mens --- DAMAGE(10)
    40 -------------- 8
    80 -------------- 3

UNIT 2 attacks lets supose it fails

UNIT 1 attacks and hits does 2 damage and 30%hit

    UNIT 2
    nr. of mens --- DAMAGE(10)
    40 -------------- DEAD
    20 -------------- 5
    60 -------------- 3

REPEAT until 1 unit either dies or flees.

    sorry for the long post
