Hi,
the 3. Edition has invented some new exotic races like Genasis or Half-Dragons. I would like to know, if anybody uses this races in the birthright campaign.
What about Tieflings or Celestials ?my purpose is now to lead you into the Pallace where you shall have a clear and delightful view of all those various objects, and scattered excellencies, that lye up and down upon the face of creation, which are only seen by those that go down into the Seas, and by no other....

In my oppinion there should be no limit of restricting exotic races. May be there is a limit for half-dragons (like only one existing type of cerilian halfdragon), but why shouldn't they or others exist?
For example in Khinasi could exist serveral fire-genasis and air-genasis, in Rjurik may exist earth-genasis or even half-elementals.
With asimaars and tieflings there might be a problem, but if the godly realms have celestials/ infernal creatures, why not? One other problem of half celestials/ half demons might be the distance from gods to the mortal world, but in few times there might be exceptions (O.K., a child of a god with a mortal would habe an increadible bloodline!!!).May Khirdai always bless your sword and his lightning struck your enemies!

Let's consider also the problem of limited plane-shift, which was pointed out in "blood spawn".

Genasis, Half-Dragons, Tieflings and Celestials are all much older than
3rd edition, but they did not have place in Monster Manual.
Using these races for PCs in Birthright is almost unacceptable, but
there may be some NPC from time to time, say once in 1000 years.
Genasis, Tieflings and Celestials are half-planar creatures. The reason
there are none of those in Birthright is the fact that Aebrynis is
shrouded in Shadow World, and every planewalker must pass through it to
get to Aebrynis. Needless to say, this passage is very dangerous and
rarely attempted.
Dragons of Cerilia are very rare and powerful. Dragons are much less
often encountered and much less known and researched on Aebrynis than on
any other world. Chance for offspring of a Dragon and member of another
race is almost none.

Well, I do not currently participate in a BR
campaign. I can tell you that if I ever do become a GM
of one, I would welcome such ideas. I would not
necessarily be keen on them, but that`s another issue.
Why? Because I think one of BR`s problems at this
point is that it is too narrow in terms of playing
potential. I see nothing wrong in at least discussing
the possibilities.
It`s fine for those who do like the narrow
aspect. It is also fine, IMO, for those who would like
to vary from that approach.
