Cold Rider or no, why wouldn`t a Lucitian champion or high priest have ascended in Azrai`s place? It would be easy to explain how the Cerilians simply didn`t realize it in their egocentric worldview - certainly the Vos gods wouldn`t acknowledge such competitors.

    Perhaps as a possible explanation:

    - The explosion of Mt. Deismaar hit the Adurian Army(s) hardest - if the

main parts of the mountain landed on them there might be noone left that

would qualify as champion of Azrai.

    - Those who ascended to godhod were those that were closest to point

zero of the explosion - perhaps the Adurian Champion was just at that

time retreating to recover from the wounds he received on that day?

After all THEY had the numbers to shift their men between fighting and

    resting...

    bye

There might have been a little more intentionality on the part of the

"light" gods in the explosion. That is, they KNEW they were going to

explode and were able to direct the explosion. They may have situated

themselves (both physically or metaphysically) between Azrai and the

    majority of his followers.

Physically, they may have placed themselves in such a way that the land

bridge between Aduria and Cerilia was destroyed. In doing so their physical

presence might have cut off the mystic power of Azrai`s from his Adurian

followers. The power released by Azrai`s death might have been "blowback"

towards Cerilia and the Vos followers who the ascended.

Metaphysically, the gods may have been trying to prevent the release of

Azrai`s energy entirely, and the energy blewback in more of a metaphoric

sense. That is, their physical location on the field doesn`t matter so much

as their attempt to corral Azrai`s explosion "directing" it over a certain

    area of the field.

There is some information about those who received bloodlines at Deismaar

being those who were similar in some way to that of their particular

derivation. Those who ascended were generally the "closest" to their gods

in ways that might be metaphorical rather than physical. In that context

Kreisha and Belenik may have been most like Azrai`s personality or demeanor.

In general, however, Azrai`s bloodline tends to affect people in a more

chaotic and unpredictable way, so I think I`d prefer one of the earlier

    explanations.

Note: The first post in this thread is in 2001, so there have been significant changes to my version of Aduria since then I'm now looking at about 13 or 14 seperate human cultures (plus non human).

As for the release of energy at Deismaar, Geeman is correct in that most of the destruction was chanelled southwards by the other gods (as their last act before dying) in an attempt to spare Cerilia and their followers. This is why northern Aduria is desert and wasteland, it still hasn't recovered.

There is also a very good reason why only Belinik and Kriesha arose after Deismaar, but I'm not going to give out that information
