guess we already have a guideline regarding citations to canon stuff..
I did set it up when the wiki was created, but since no one actually used it (or never read those pages) i kinda forgat about them as well.
the list is even incomplete..
so why dont we just give it a try to cite things if there are references in canon lore?Te audire non possum. Musa sapientum fixa est in aure.

The wiki has a couple of ways of noting citations. The citation
method is probably the most obvious, but it could also be done with
signatures and links to user pages seem like the most direct.
Would it be reasonable to contributors to have their own user
accounts used as part of a footnote/citation? That is, if someone
wanted to add a paragraph that contains factual details about the
setting, that contributor could create a citation that points at
their user name? "This section contributed by user: Mikey_Role" or
something to that effect at the bottom of the page?
I`m not saying every change in grammar, language or verbiage need be
footnoted, but if someone puts in a contribution that doesn`t exist
in any source material then they could note that it is their own
contribution and anyone reading the page can note that fact.

I still haven't really figured out the breadcrumbs
With everything else I just don't bother...there's even times when I have to relearn how to create pages.Legacy of Kings: Member

For pages like [[Valkheim]] I have drawn in data from all over the place (though much of the Valkheim canon stuff comes from Rjurik Highlands and the PS of Hogunmark), but there isn't much to start with. I guess I could cite what is from where but much of it is constructed by me so that everything makes sense, e.g. how can you have a fortified place that isn't fortified and isn't part of the only major settlement. Likewise for [[Rhuannach]], another realm which I have had to cobble together from minimal published works.
Basically, I'll have to retrofit all the references.Last edited by Sorontar; 10-25-2010 at 12:32 AM.

ps. Yes, Arjan, we have been ignoring some of the pages. The voting stuff and levels of admins etc that you got from WoW just isn't relevant to us. And that many policy pages for what is a small, self-monitoring community of editors is confusing. I don't know whether *anyone* has managed to memorise all the policies listed on the wiki. I think we need to take it back to the basics.

well.. actually the voting policy would have helped... we wouldnt have this discussion if we followed it...
nevertheless we can bring up the policies and rewrite them (or delete) where needed. (something we should have done 4 years ago...)Te audire non possum. Musa sapientum fixa est in aure.

the "problem" was/is that only a handful of people are actually adding stuff...
and since no one else objected it went on for a long time.Te audire non possum. Musa sapientum fixa est in aure.
