    mailing list problem

    Hi Arjan et al,
I believe that the forum is successfully sending messages to the mailing list but not the other way round. None of Gary's emails about Cerilian Saints seem to have got to the forum.

it seemed resetting the pwd was not needed, i was using the right pwd.. but the problem is that there is not a local pop server installed..
flip is working on that to fix..

@listserv users: all messages are received, will be imported once the pop instance is available

those msgs were deleted by the script.. it seems that gmail does things different with the standard imap headers (hmm sounds very microsoft a like)
but i need some more messages through the list so i can test

hmm i have to figure this out...
google clusters messages in a mailbox when they are of the same subject..

ill leave the script turned on for now.

as you might have noticed the mailinglist is connected again.
flip is having troubles configuring the mail on the server.. well the mal is being delivered, i only somehow cant retrieve the mail. this goes for the two BRnet accounts there are. one is the admin address, and the other one is the mailinglist mailbox.

he therefor asked me to look for another solution.

since a while you can retrieve mail from gmail through imap.
the only problem is that google somehow has its own rules for imap.. thus not giving all the information in the email header through imap.

one of the is the senderaddres, which i use to determine wether its a board user or if its coming from the birthright-l list.
i will not bother you with tech details about it.

another thing that gmail does, is clustering messages with the same subject... for example when you have 8 emails, which are all replies to one subject.. the info imap gets is that there is 1 email...

the script automatically deletes an email after its being imported, so the other 7 are deleted as well.

since the mailinglist is not really busy, and the script checks every 15 min for messages that change that emails get deleted before they are imported into the forum.

IF you suspect this is happening i could take a look into other possibilities and settings within gmail, or let the script check every 5 min ors (or even less)

as for now, it looks fine (but most US people arent online now, so well see after thanksgiving)

for those who do celebrated it, happy thanksgiving!

    cheers
    arjan
