I finally took the time to look into vBulletin hooks. These are trigger points in the forum software enabling me to execute custom code at certain points.
i always manually edited the new post script and added the script i once wrote to send mail to the mailinglist.
Its always been a pain in the *** when i had to upgrade the forum.
i now added the custom code to the newpost hook and it seems to be working. i now dont have to edit the files manually anymore. and the connection should stay online and working after each software upgrade.
