According to the Birthright rules, halflings worship Avanalae. However, it doesn't give any explanation as to why. She is the Goddess of the Sun. Halflings are from the Shadow World, do they wish the Sun to shine there?
According to 3e rules, halflings follow Yondalla, the goddess of halflings. Most other races have there own god it would make more sense that halflings have their own to follow. Also according to 3e rules many halflings follow Ehlonna the goddess of the woodlands. Converting it to Birthright, it would make more sense that the halflings worship Erik instead of Avanalae.
That said I also don't see a reason why anyone of any race could not all of a sudden decide that a god of another race is more important to worship.Lord Eldred

Yes, halflings do worship Avanlae. Who wouldn't after the shadow world. Halflings from the burrows have their own religion.
The question is: Where halflings live in close proximity to humans, is it reasonable to assume that they tend to worship the same gods their human neighbors do.
