New Blood Ability for The Spider

There is in the "Monster Manual IV" a CR2 creature called Bloodsilk Spider. It has interesting ability to create a web with "vampiric ability". The web drills into ensnared creature, drains their blood (1d4 dmg/rd) and channels it to the spider (it gains temporary hp equal to the damage delt).
The web is blood-red, wet, immune to fire.
The web can be thrown as a net or set as a trap.

Do you think this ability can be added to The Spider combo after some upgrade?

I don`t know if it`s necessarily appropriate for the Spider
himself. How about a henchmen/spider that he has control or
influence over? A cohort/LT or something like that?

    No, I don't.

I think Spidey is tough enough as he is. Using all the various sized spiders in mass supply throughout the Spiderfell is sure to give anyone hesitation. After all, you could have spiders so small they can crawl through chainmail links, or big enough that they carry a horse away. That should be sufficient deterent instead of needing vampiric webs.
