Tournen & Alamie reunification question
I've always found the dynamic between Tournen & Alamie to be one of the more intresting ones in the Birthright world.
However the two nations always seem locked in endless stalemate, so has anyone here ever managed to pull off a ''reunification'' of the two?
Also what strategies hav peopl found most hlpful when dealing with the ''Auld Enemy'' across the river?

Marriage seems an easy solution.
Also Braedonnal Tuare desire of fighting Rhuobhe will make soon or later him break with Tuornen and without him Tournen armies can't do much against Alamie.

Currently the surrounding players (Avanil, Boeruine and Ghoere) have a strong vested interest in a weak divided Tournen/Alamie - if the two sibling duchies reunited then they would form a very powerful combined duchy which could compete against the existing "1st tier" powers.
Marriage is one obvious method to merge the two duchies, conquest is the other - conquest would likely require a knock-about between larger duchies which had Alamie and Tuornen allied to opposing sides to avoid the "1st tier" stepping in to "help negotiate a peace". The big problem with either method of union is not so much in achieving the union as in maintaining it - there is a lot of bad blood between the two sides and plenty of people who would want to fan the flames.

Heh, the old bugbear of nationlism is a tricky issue, but if a peaceful annexion/reunification happens the leaders on both sides of the river. Could fairly point out to their people that breaking up the nation was never anyone's intent during the civil war. Both brothers wanted to rule everything but couldnt crush the ''traitors'' on the other side.
Of course chances are you'd need two good alingment regents, with a strong commitment to peace who could overrule the objections of the fire-breathers in their respective realms.
As for the other 1st tier powers on all sides. The saving grace is that they all loath each other, and a reunited Alamie/Tuornen could sneakily float the idea of picking a side, allowing say Boeruine to break the statemate with Avanil.
In terms of conquest I assume a quick knock-out blow delivered alone or with the help of a strong ally, would be the only valid option. Otherwise you'd wind up in a grinding war of attrition or worse somthing like the 30 Years War where everyone gets involved.
For Alamie perhaps a waiting game would be best building up power, after all Alamie is quite strong on it's own. And hoping that Rhuobhe puts Tuornen first on his genocide list or Tuare's beligerance overwhlems his good sense, and he attacks Rhoubhe. Then the Duke/Duchess of Alame can quickly step to ''protect his/her people & reclaim his/her ancestral rights'',
