A question about sources: What is a source? I mean, is it a phisical
thing, can we see, or touch a source??? Or is it just a force, the power of
nature or something else? When a wizard creates a source, what does he
actually creates? If it's only an energy, how can another regent have
influence on this energy (by contesting, for example)?

As said in The Book of Magecraft, a source is a place were the wizard
has learned to draw energy from, has found where a large pool of magical
power is, and learned to use it, in other words, thats what he spent the
month of "Create Holding" doing, searching, finding and drawing the
    power.

Contesting a source, is basicly Disrupting the flow of magic, or in
other words, some other wizard may be trying to draw on your source of
    power, and therefore contests it
