Questions and IHH material
I have a few questions regarding the BR rulebook on which I would like
your opinions:
* What are the reasons that a paladin can't cast realm spells. I mean,
after all, a paladin has the same divine "connections" as priests have,
so I cannot see why not. Except, maybe, for game balance.
* Can a priest cast a realm spell that demands a holding (2) in a
province where s/he has a holding (1) *if* s/he has a holding (3) in
another province, that is, do priest holdings connect as wizard ley
lines?
* I wonder, is it possible to 'create holding' anywhere on Cerilia? That
is, could Prince Avan suddenly decide to create a law holding somewhere
in Khinasi?
* Can more than two regents engage in a diplomacy action? That is, could
a group of, say, five regents meet and create a mutual alliance in a
single domain turn?
Oh, and BTW, I have made some background stuff on the Impregnable Heart
of Haelyn. Would it be okay if I posted it on this mailing list? I have
already sent it to Darkstar to be included in the BR netbook but as he
is very busy at the moment ('cause of the PBeM campaign, I guess), it
might take a while before it is made available there.
Yours truly,
Morten.

I don't think that I would rule taht Paladins can't cast realm spells on
ce theya re of sufficient level. Check out several of the temples in
Khinasi. There are a few, to my recollection, that are ruled by
Paladins. If a paladin could not cast realm magic, then they would be
at a tremendous disadvantage during the game.

Good question. I think that they would have to have something similar
to ley lines.

Sure Avan could do this. He better have a lot of support for his
actions or the Khinasi regents would wipe his imperialistic behind off
the map.

Yep. We see it all of the time - G7, NAFTA, etc. If Coeryanis, Elinie,
and Roesone sued Osoerde for restoration of William Moergan then Raenech
would listen a lot more carefully that if it were only Coeranys.

Lets start with the first, and work our way down...

I think game babance is a very important one. Paladins would be extremely
powerful if they were able to cast realm spells as a cleric, in addition
to their fighter bonuses. Paladins are a sub-class of warrior, and not
priests, so there are differences. You will agree that Paladins spell
casting ability is not on par with priests, however strong thier divine
ties. This would seem to indicate a different sort of God-Mortal
relationship.

I don't believe so. There is no mystical energy to lionk in this case.
The power of the spell comes from the divinities influence in the region
as jugded by his/her worshippers in that area. It really isn't something
you can "borrow" from another area. Remember the mebvail(sp) is an actual
energy, as opposed to that which powers priest realm spells

I don't see any reason why not, however, in my game you ahve to have
SOMEONE go there to set it up, whether it be the regent, a lieutenant or a
trusted associate.

Of course! This is how these sorts of alliances are formed!(to the
chagrin of PCs everywhere:)

But the original version I wrote up did not have everything list with
percentages, though I might covert it if I get time soon.
