As far as I know, there are no rules on Elven investiture. IMC, I
allow them a formal ceremony to pass on provinces and other holdings.
It is basically an investiture without the priest spell. The
reasoning behind this is that Elves have a much closer connection
to the land than any other race.
Passing on the bloodline is more difficult. Basically, I use a wizard
investiture spell for this purpose.

IMC Paladins are able to cast priest realm spells if they control the
holdings needed and are of high enough level. High enough level means
Paladin *casting* level, as per the PHB. So a Paladin who wants to
cast a 1st level realm magic spell has to be 9th level. Needless to
say, no Paladin is known to have used realm magic.

This topic has been tangled with several times on the List. It seems
everyone agrees with one of two things: First, either the Thorn Throne has
the ability to cast Investiture on a soon-to-be Elven Regent, or another
faction within the Elves performs this and other sacred rituals. IMC I have
created a group of Elven Druids that gain thier abilties by following the
"call of Nature" (no pun intended. :) ), not worshipping a diety, and they
can perform the Investiture.

This is another thats been knocked around on the List before. Most would
allow Paladin's to cast Priest Realm Spells, as long as they have access to
the correct Spheres for the spells.

Sorry can't help you there. But maybe someone on the List lives near where
your soon to be.

Elven Investiture and Paladins
| Greetings,
| As I understand it, the elves do not follow any gods and thus they
| have no priests. However, my source book on Tuarhievel states that
| the regent Fhileraene passes his bloodline onto a human before he
| falls into the hands of the Gorgon. There are no temples in Tuarhievel
| so I was wondering how the elves are handling matters of investiture.
| I realize that something could simply be made up for how the bloodline
| was passed on but it seems to me that since the elves as a whole have no
| priests that passing along their bloodlines could be quite problemsome
| for them in every elven kingdom.
In the same Tuarhievel domain guide it also talks about the fact that the
Thorn Throne chooses the next leader of Tuarhievel...I would imagine the
land itself chooses and does the investiture.
| My next question concerns paladins. Are paladins able to cast
| realm spells in the spheres that they have available to them. I would
| think so as long as they are of the appropriate level to cast the
| spell but I was just wondering since the rule book does say that only
| priests and wizards can pray for/cast realm spells.
They are in our campaign as long as their God grants them spellcasting
abilities.
That's how it works for us at least.

The Player's Option: Spells and Magic books proposes optional systems of
magic for Priests and Mages. I personally prefer the suggestion for
Druids, which basically converts the Preserver/Defiler ethos from Dark Sun
over to the priests. Human druids are creatures of Aeric/Eric/etc. and
must follow the basic guidelines, but IMC (in my campgaign?) I let
Sidhelien be Druids of the second sort.
- --I also have used the info in the PO:S&M (doesn't that just sound twisted?
) to create a new class of wizards for the elves that can cast
magic while in armor (the disadvantage being lack of access to certain
"shunned" schools of magic, as per Book of Magecraft)
- --Until you hold the Gorgon's stony heart in your hands--
