Well, this would depend on whether or not the regent was the last of
his/her line, and if they died by bloodtheft. If this is the case
then the killer gains 1BL/5 of the dead guy, and killer gets all RPs.
The dead guys holdings then become uncontrolled (which I think is
what you were asking about), in that they are available for anyone to claim them. The book doesn't say
specifically ( at least not that I could find in my cursory look),
but I play it that all holdings are effectively reduced to zero (that
chaos of losing the ruler ,infighting over who will lead, etc), and
the provinces stay at their original level, but must be invested
(though invasion or some other method of assuming the leadership of
the land) before they can rule.
