    Maintaining Forts

Just wondering what people interpret as the costs for maintaining fortified
    holdings?

Is it 1Gb/ level of the holding or is it just 1Gb for all levels of a
    holding in one province ?

    cheers,

1 GB per turn, no matter what the holding level is. With 1 GB/level, the
domain of Ilien (among others) wouldn't be viable.

I agree...it costs enough to set up a castle or fortress, let alone
having ot pay for each level..it really isn't feasible..

One GB per Fortifications per province.

If you have holdings in three provinces: a 1 a2 and a 3; and they are all
fortified, the Maint Cost would be 3 GBs.

Just how much repair work will a regent need to do to a stone fortification
should be the question here. If a regent is spending over 2,000 in gold
every three months, then the regent's master builder is an idiot that built
the castle on a fault line!! I don't see that this is too little of a
    maintenance cost.

I use 1 GB/ fortified holding. I tend to think that the higher the
holding the more people already employed by the regent can be spared to
look after the holding. If it was 1GB / level then mantaining fortified
holding would soon become very expensive.

This line of thinking is flawed (sorry): first of all maint costs take into
consideration labor, materials, and supplies--the units stationed in the
province (whether in the fortification or not) could be used to provide the
    labor--and they are already paid for (also the supplies they need;
i.e.--food, etc.); second, a well-built fortification, no matter what size,
will not deteriorate faster if it is bigger; when it was built, extra costs
    absorbed would provide for better and stronger materials, engineers, etc.;
and finally, using your theory, it would be cheaper to build many "forts"
    than one big Castle.

    Just my own opinion

Well I think 1BG for maintaining a 5lvl fortification is too low, but 1GB is
    2000 Gp so I say:

    1GB 1 & 2 lvl
    2GB 3 & 4 lvl
then +1GB/lvl beyond that, reasoning that a 6lvl fortification
and up are so likely to have critical problems that are verry
expensive to fix. I do make one exception to this and that is
for dwarfs, they simply get 1GB / 2lvls due to there better
knowledge on the subject ( it must be maintained by dwarfs, a
dwarven built fortification still gets problems! )

This is offcorse up to the DM and I decided that this works best in my Campains
other sugestions might be mutch better and offcorse this is not by the rules but
    it works.
